Changeover Saturday, between Geneva and the resorts
Most resort rentals run from Saturday to Saturday. On that day, the airport, the motorway and the resort roads handle the week’s arrivals and departures.

Why Saturday
Chalets and residences are usually let by the week, from Saturday to Saturday. Flights to Geneva are therefore concentrated on that day, and departing holidaymakers vacate their accommodation that same morning.
During the French, Swiss and British school winter holidays, these Saturdays follow one another over several weeks in February.
What takes time
At the airport, skis and ski bags often come out on the oversized baggage belt, which empties after the others. On the road, the A40 is busy in both directions, especially around Cluses and Sallanches. In the resorts, the last few kilometres are taken at a crawl when everyone arrives at once.
On arrival: give your flight number
The flight number lets the driver follow the actual landing. There is no need to call if the plane is late: the driver can see it.
If you have skis in the hold, say so in your request: the driver will know to wait for the oversized baggage belt.
On the way back: leave earlier
For a flight departing from Geneva on a winter Saturday, the pick-up time at the resort is set with more leeway than on a weekday. It depends on the resort: an hour’s drive from La Clusaz, nearly three from Val d’Isère.
- Check the time by which you must vacate your accommodation.
- In Avoriaz or Flaine, allow time to bring your luggage down to the pick-up point.
- Request the quote for the return journey at the same time as the outbound one.
